Designing Documents

Previous | Topics | Next

Answer Scope

All Answer Files start off blank or empty. Creating a question is not the same as creating a field in a database. It is not until a document containing the question is assembled that the Question and Answer are added to the Answer File being used. This means, of course, that different Answer Files may have different Questions and Answers stored in them. It all depends on the documents they have been used to assembled.

If you require a global Question and Answer to be created, prefix the Question Name with a '#' eg #Author:PhoneNumber.

Global Questions only need to be answered once and are stored in a special Answer File called 'User'. Use global Questions for details like the user's name & address where you want the same answer inserted regardless of the current Answer File being used.
